Samsung Sets Date for Galaxy S4 Debut

The rumors were spot on – we didn’t get a new Samsung flagship phone at Mobile World Congress this week, but we did get something almost as good – the honest-to-goodness real release date from Samsung.

Samsung’s Galaxy S4, the next big phone in the mobile company’s lineup will be introduced on March 14th at a press conference in New York City. This information was confirmed when invitations went out to the press earlier today.

The new Galaxy handset will have a higher-resolution screen, a better camera and pack a quad-core processor under the lid.

Last month, the company reported that it had sold over 40 million Galaxy S3 phones since their launch last May – putting Samsung hot on the tail of Apple’s iPhone in terms of popularity and adoption rate.

This week at Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s tradeshow in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung did announce their new Galaxy Note tablet offering. The Galaxy Note 8.0 ships with a digital pen and software improvements that Samsung says will set it apart from Apple’s iPad Mini and the Amazon Kindle Fire – the Note’s closest competitors.
