Version 2.0 out for Mac.Dropbox, the cloud storage service that synchs your online files across multiple devices, has released version 2.0 for Mac.

With this new release, the features of its desktop client are expanded to include advanced management of cloud files directly from your computer. Featuring a newly designed drop-down menu that sports a new UI, this latest release also has support for realtime invitation notification and updates for shared folders directly in the new menu bar.

One of the most useful improvements to the software is the ability to create a public link for one of your shared documents without needing to track the file down in your Dropbox folder.

This newest Dropbox version is compatible with the recently updated app for iOS, which included push notifcations. Version 2.0 is available directly from DropBox’s website.

Tgg Romney posts Mitt picture to Instagram.Ever since his presidential campaign loss last fall, pictures have been popping up across social media sites of Mitt Romney in regular, everyday situations, like pumping gas, or checking out at the register of the local drugstore.

Today, on his 66th birthday, his son, Tagg Romney, released a personal picture of his own, showing his father celebrating with a cupcake and party hat.

The picture, shared to social photo service Instagram, quickly became popular across social media, with many making cracks about the hat at Mitt’s expense.

“Happy 66th Dad. Can’t beat a fluffernutter cupcake,” Tagg Romney said on Twitter, as he posted the photo above.

Twinkies, Other Hostess Products to Return by Summer

March 12, 2013

Hostess products to return to store shelves. The rights to the line of snack foods formerly made by Hostess have been purchased by a private equity firm, and plans are in place to return Twinkies, Ding-Dongs, Ho-Hos, and other goodies to store shelves as early as this summer.

Apollo Global Management, the equity form, has partnered with Dean Metropoulos, a food executive, and purchased the entire Hostess lineup for $410 million.

Originally, reports surfaced that the popular snacks wouldn’t return until September, but revised estimates say we could be eating Twinkies again by June.

Former Hostess employees, however, are not as lucky. The deal will use existing bakeries for manufacturing the snack foods, and will also rely on existing fulfillment and delivery services for transportation to the marketplace.

If you’re hankering for a Ho-Ho, you’ll have to wait a few months, or head over to e-Bay, where hoarders amassed a stockpile of the sweet treats last fall, and have been selling them off to the highest bidders ever since.

Google Glass Will Work With Prescription Lenses Soon

March 12, 2013

Google Glass for prescription eyeglasses.Google Glass, the smash hit technology of 2013, currently won’t work for people who need to wear prescription lenses.

The company released a statement today saying that “the Glass design is modular, so you will be able to add frames and lenses that match your prescription. We’re still perfecting the design for prescription frames. Although the frames won’t be ready for the Explorer Edition’s release, hang in there – you can expect to see them later this year.”

Currently, a version of Google Glass is available only to a select few people, many of them developers. They were given access to the Glass Explorer’s Edition for $1,500, and were hand-picked by Google. The search company organized a contest earlier this year, asking entrants to post a brief message on social networks explaining what they would do if given early access to Google Glass.

iPad Mini Facebook Scam with Fake Apple Page

March 10, 2013

Free iPad Mini on Facebook - not likely.Did one of your friends just “Like” a Facebook page that promises to send them one of 82 free iPad Minis if they are randomly selected? It’s not true.

Earlier today, someone set up this fake Facebook page, pretending to be Apple Computer Corp. Then they posted a picture of an unboxed iPad mini with a statement that they had 82 such tablets, and would be giving them away to fans who liked the Page and shared the post with their friends.

In 17 hours, nearly 94,000 people have liked the Page, and the post has been shared over 195,000 times. And it’s all for nothing. There are no iPads, this is not Apple’s official Facebook page. Apple’s official (well, Apple really doesn’t use Facebook or Twitter, so this is as official as you’re likely to get) page is here.

If you’re liking this status in hopes of scoring a free tablet, you’re going to be sorry. It’s very possible that the people behind this fake Facebook page are gathering your data for other means, and they’re probably not above board!
